How to Use the Loop Maker
Load an audio file with the Load Audio button, or drop a WAV or MP3 file onto the tool. Other formats like OGG, AIFF, and AIF may also work depending on your browser — see Supported audio files for details. Drag across the source waveform to create a loop region. Drag either edge to adjust the start or end point, or drag inside the selected region to move it.
Use the mouse wheel over the waveform to zoom in for detailed edits, and double-click the waveform to reset the view. Middle-drag the waveform to pan while zoomed in. Snap to zero crossing is enabled by default so boundary edits land on nearby zero crossings, which can reduce clicks.
Set the Crossfade amount to blend the end of the loop into the beginning. Equal power crossfade keeps the transition smoother for most material, while Normalize raises the exported loop to a consistent peak level. Use the result player to check the loop, enable Add loop metadata if your sampler uses WAV loop points, then save the finished loop with Save WAV.
Supported audio files
The Loop Maker decodes audio using the browser's built-in Web Audio API, so the set of formats that work depends on what your browser supports.
- WAV and MP3 — supported in all modern browsers.
- OGG, AIFF, and AIF — support depends on the browser. Chrome and Firefox typically decode OGG and AIFF, while Safari support is less consistent. If a file fails to load, try converting it to WAV or MP3.
Exported loops are always saved as WAV, regardless of the source format.
